Com Hem operates in Sweden, which as of 2016 had approximately 4.8 million dwellings according to Statistiska Centralbyrån.

Out of the 4.8 million dwellings, 2.7 million are multi dwelling units (MDU) and 2.1 million are single dwelling units (SDU).
The Com Hem Group has about 2 million addressable households in the MDU market and about 970,000 addressable households in the SDU market. The Group aims to add an additional 30,000 addressable SDU households as many of them will get upgraded from DSL to fibre.

Our markets consist of broadband, TV, and fixed telephony services for consumers as well as broadband and telephony services for small and medium sized companies. The Swedish market for the services we provide can be split into accesses via coax, fibre and copper, satellite & terrestrial as well as mobile.

The broadband market

The fixed broadband market has grown steadily over the past couple of years. As of H1 2017 there were 3.5 million fixed broadband subscribers in the Swedish market, an increase of 5.0 percent compared to H1 2016. Com Hem’s market share was 20.5 percent at H1 2017 which was an increase of 0.2 percentage points since H1 2016.

The TV market

As of H1 2017 there were 5.2 million TV subscriptions in Sweden (digital and analogue), which is a decline of 0.3 percent compared to H1 2016. The market for digital TV which was in decline in 2013 and 2014, started growing again in 2015 (0.7 percent) and grew by 0.4 percent in H1 2017 compared to H1 2016, driven by increased demand for IPTV. At H1 2017, Com Hem had a market share of 22.6 percent, which was an increase of 0.2 percentage points from H1 2016, while Boxer’s market share declined to 16.0% from 17.8% in H1 2016.

The telephony market

The market for fixed telephony been in declined over the past years. As of H1 2017, there were 2.1 million fixed telephony subscriptions in Swedish households, a decline of 15.7 percent compared to H1 2016. In spite of the market decline, Com Hem increased its market share by 0.9 percentage points to 13.2 percent in H1 2017 compared to H1 2016.

The B2B market

The demand for mobile services has continued to increase in the Swedish B2B market. The unique number of mobile subscriptions grew by 3.3 percent in H1 2017 compared to H1 2016 to a total of 3.6 million subscriptions.

The market for fixed telephony has been in decline over the past years and H1 2017 the number of fixed telephony subscriptions had declined by 11.8 percent compared to H1 2016. The number of subscriptions for fixed broadband declined by 1.5 percent in H1 2017 compared to H1 2016 due to a 12.4% decline in DSL subscriptions.
